- Kids in Action! – open area of funding for items and services that do not necessarily fit within one of the three targeted areas of funding
Variety at Work – designed to assist families in need. Families are selected based upon a self-completed application and internal Variety review. The Fund currently has four separate giving areas:
- Special Needs Movie Screenings – screenings of family friendly films for those raising children with special needs. Screenings provide a raised lighting and lowered sound volume experience designed to ease a child’s comfort level. Events are free-of-charge to children and currently take place at three separate venues across North Texas (Arlington, Lewisville and Plano). For upcoming opportunities, please click here.
- Holiday Party – each year Variety ensures that as many children as possible can share in the holiday spirit. Event includes a screening of a first run family friendly movie, a gift package and more.
- Bikes for Kids – program in which children are presented with a bicycle of their very own, along with a safety helmet, lock and chain. Through our relationships with various agencies, we look for deserving children based upon need, school performance and more
- Additional Events – From time to time Variety will offer special one-time only events such as taking large groups of children to sporting events, museums, movie premiers and the like.
Sunshine Coach – cooperative effort between Variety and local children’s charities in the procurement of passenger vehicles to provide transportation to the children that the agencies serve. With the assistance of Variety, agencies pay a percentage of the full value of the vehicle.
Variety Equestrian Center (under developement) – partnership between Variety and Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children in Temple, Texas, to create a minimal mobility therapeutic horseback riding program for special needs children attending the residential camp. A tentative completion date of the Center has been established as the summer of 2014.
