Kids on the Go! Helps Kids Get Going
McCoy Family First to Receive Assistance in Newest Variety Program in North Texas

Variety's newest program in North Texas, Kids on the Go!, is in full swing. The Kids on the Go! program has been developed to assist families raising children with limited mobility in the procurement of durable medical goods such as wheelchairs, walkers, adaptive strollers, |
ramps, lifts, bicycles, tricycles and much more.
The first family selected through this program was the McCoy family of Dallas, whose daughter Claire has cerebral palsy, cortical blindness and other conditions. The McCoy family was notified just prior to Christmas that Variety would be assisting them with the purchase of an adaptive pediatric stroller, a van ramp and a locking mechanism for vans wheelchair to be installed in the families van.

Bromley Spotlighted by KTVT Channel 11

Variety took the airwaves in the morning hours of February 21 thanks to CBS 11. Variety aired two pieces that morning in an effort to increase the awareness of Variety in the North Texas and the programs that we offer. |
The first piece was a live interview with Lance Hood, Executive Director for Variety, and included details about Variety's history and current programs.
The second piece was a story about Nicholas Bromley. Nick is a 13 year old with Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy that Variety purchased an Easy Stand Standing Frame. This equipment has been demonstrated to improve many adverse affects of immobilization by: decreasing joint contractures, and muscle tightness; decreasing sink pressure, increasing bone density, improving circulation, and improving digestion and intestinal bowel movement.

Special Kids, Deserve A Special Screening
Variety and Studio Movie Grill Partner to Offer Special Needs
In a unique partnership with Studio Movie Grill locations in both Plano and Arlington, Variety is hosting a series of Special Needs Movie Screenings. Each time a family friendly film hits the big screen, Variety is offering families with special needs children the opportunity to view the film in an environment of their peers.
The screenings take place on the opening Saturday of selected films at 11:30am at both locations. They are free of charge for children, and adults pay a discounted rate of $5 per person.
In addition to being able to see the movie with their peeers, the screenings take place in a lowered sound and increased lighting environment to allow children with sensitivities to sound an increase level of enjoyment.
